Engaging Employees with a Simplified Meeting Room Experience

Creating a superb employee experience is on the agenda of every business attracting and retaining great talent. Employees now expect to have a productive, engaging and enjoyable work experience. In Deloitte’s latest Human Capital Trends 2017 report, nearly 80% of companies recognised employee experience as important but only 22% reported their companies were excellent at building a differentiated employee experience.

Part of developing a fantastic digital workplace experience is to ensure there’s an enjoyable and seamless meeting experience. Over the last couple of years, video conferencing has become increasingly popular, in part influenced by the consumerization of video, and a plethora of cloud providers offering easy-to-use video software such as Zoom, BlueJeans and Skype for Business.

Here at Logitech we have teamed up with Skype for Business to develop Logitech SmartDock, an AV meeting room solution to provide a seamless, user-friendly touch-screen console to launch and manage video calls in any meeting space - from the huddle room to the large conference room.

With Logitech SmartDock for Skype room System (SRS), people can start meetings on time with one-touch join, then instantly project to the display in the room and share to remote participants via their Skype for Business clients on a smartphone or laptop. Employees can leave their laptops behind, walk into a SmartDock-equipped conference room, and work together as if they were in the same room.

Globally, it’s estimated that there are 30 to 40 million huddle rooms, small meeting room spaces for on-the-fly meetings, yet only 3.6% of them are currently equipped with video conferencing according to Frost & Sullivan. There is huge potential to video-enable all types of meeting spaces, including huddle rooms, at an affordable price point.

As Deloitte said in their recent Human Capital Trends report, “Top companies are built around systems that encourage teams and individuals to meet each other, share information transparently, and move from team to team.”

And when employees are engaged like this, enabled by high-quality collaboration devices and software, employers see improved team performance, higher rates of employee engagement and enhanced business performance.
