The UK productivity growth is the strongest since the 2008 financial crisis

Wednesday 21 February 2018

Today the Office of National Statistics released a report that states the UK has seen the strongest two quarters of productivity growth since the recession of 2008.

It’s refreshing to see the UK has had the strongest two quarters of productivity growth since the recession of 2008. Workplace productivity is affected by a range of factors including economics, politics and technological advancements.

In fact, it is the latter which is shifting and evolving how we work for the better. AI for example, has a huge impact on increasing productivity. By augmenting jobs it enables people to focus on activities that deliver business benefit rather than focusing on the mundane, repetitive tasks. As we start to see AI technology implemented in more business environments, it is likely that a trend in productivity growth may re-emerge.
